Constructive criticism VS Reviews & Stars,
in the restaurant world.
After spending thousands of dollars, your credit line, the longest, endless work hours and everything that comes from the blessings of becoming a fortunate restaurant, cafe or food establishment owner, you realize that people are writing reviews about your "baby" and once you finally get home, sit down and try to read them, you face the harsh world outside of your little dictatorship.
As the president of this fairly small square footage territory, you can only reprimand your self, the managers are chosen by you, the employees must have been, somehow, approved by you, to represent you, to your valuable customers.
Yet the bad review is out there, the solution for most is not to read it, dealing with many restaurant owners, the ones that own their buildings or have high sales volume, really don't have the time to read those reviews, because of the aggravation and the non-sense involved with it.
For the others, the rest of the restaurant owners that just opened up for business or the one that cares about impeccable record, adjusting to the demands and mistakes; the soreness from these phrases on the internet that makes them feel bad by point at their mistakes, at a precise moment in time, in the past, in a loud and clear way, is a pain to remember. The real question is what is the right thing to do?
The customer that had a bad experience, with freedom of speech, free wi-fi, is able to express his discontent of the service offered, I also believe that the same thing that made you go spend your money at that restaurant, should allow you to reach out, reach out to the owners of these businesses and help them fix the problem, that will really keep them on the top of things. I guess after trying to tell help them, you still realize that they do not care, is there a better revenge? well go for it a be the Yelper! and give it to them.
So now what does one star mean, versus two stars and the same thing for four, three or five stars, it does not have any meaning, it does not point out at the problem, you are not reaching the restaurant and you know you are not been fair, because the stars of yelp don't mean anything!
What is beautiful about this? 'THE RESTAURANT DARWINISM' as I may call it, when reality meets the reviews and the crappy restaurant owners are out of the rat race and everyone is happy, unfotunatley there is a lots of cheap shots on these reviews and been fair is hard.
The solution: soon to be presented to us in the near future, let's keep an eye!
